Starting a Wiki page

Here's a quick start-up guide for creating a Wiki article

1. Decide the name of the Article that would match a search by someone as an example: Fishing for Tarpon from a yak.

2. Go to the Wiki by clicking on the Wiki page from our menu bar or the link on the main news page.

3. Look at the left hand side (which is always present on any Wiki page) and you will find a search box which has two options "go" or "search". Search is for someone looking for something, go is to search if a page exist before you add one.

4. Type in: Fishing for Tarpon from a yak. You would use this line of text as opposed to just tarpon as chances are someone may add a "Tarpon" page that would be more directly related to tarpon's description, habitats, etc. If someone would search for "tarpon" your page would still show up.

5. Click on Go. This will give you an option to create a new page...unless it already existed. It's a check so we don't write multiple articles with the same subject.

6. Either begin to write the text or cut & paste an article that you wrote in Word, email, from a forum thread or other text format.

7. Scroll to the bottom of the page & there will be an option to preview or save.

Preview will allow you to go back & continue editing but you must save your work before leaving
If you use preview only - nothing will be saved.

8. Afterward, you can use the Wiki Mark-up language to add links (Internal from the Wiki, or outside links) or add formats such as bold, italic, etc.

There is a full tutorial link always available in the left hand column but here's a few quick examples:

If you add 3 apostrophes on each side of text it becomes bold

If you add 2 apostrophes on each side of text it becomes Italic

If you add 2 equal signs on each side of text it becomes a header that creates an index at the top of the page.
